BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin comes from microalgae grown in open-air ponds on the Kona coast of Hawaii, using pure ocean water drawn from deep beneath the Pacific.
Grown in Hawaii, Not a Lab
Haematococcus pluvialis is a microalgae that produces astaxanthin naturally, which is what gives it that deep red colour. Nutrex has been farming it in Kona since the 1980s, and BioAstin is the original Hawaiian astaxanthin.
Why It Comes in an Oil Base
Astaxanthin is fat-soluble, so each gel cap suspends it in high oleic safflower oil with natural vitamin E. That is also why the label suggests taking it with a meal that contains some fat.
