Coconut Oil Infused With Brahmi, an Herb Ayurveda Saves Specifically for the Head
Brahmi is named after Brahma, the Hindu god of creation, which is a lot of pressure for a plant. In Ayurveda it's one of the main herbs reserved for head and scalp work, and Banyan Botanicals steeps it into organic coconut oil until the oil turns a deep, settled green. Coconut oil by itself is fine. Coconut oil that spent quality time with Brahmi is a different object entirely. It's still coconut oil. It just read more books.
This is a topical oil, not a capsule, not a drink, not a thing you put on toast even though, structurally, nothing is stopping you except common sense. You massage it into the scalp and hair, let it sit, then wash it out. People have been doing this specific ritual for a long time, which tells you something about how it feels even before you get to what it does.
What It's Actually For
- Supports a healthy scalp when massaged in as part of a regular self-care routine
- Nourishes hair with a rich, traditional oil base
- Supports a calm, relaxed mood during the massage itself, which is most of the appeal honestly
- Fits into an evening wind-down ritual that supports restful sleep
A head massage is one of those things nobody tells you is good until someone does it to you once and you reconsider your entire week. Brahmi oil is built for that exact five or ten minutes. Warm a little in your hands, work it into the scalp in slow circles, and let your nervous system figure out what's happening on its own time. Leave it in for twenty minutes or overnight if your pillowcase can take the hit, then shampoo it out.
What's In the Bottle
Organic coconut oil as the base, infused with Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), prepared using traditional Ayurvedic methods that take the herb and the oil and actually combine them, instead of just shaking two things in a bottle and calling it a blend. The 14.5 ounce size is built for people who use this regularly, not for people testing the waters with a sample packet. This is a commitment-sized bottle.
For external use only. Patch test if you're new to the herb or new to putting things on your head that aren't shampoo. This is a daily wellness ritual item, not a quick fix, which, if you think about it, is true of most good habits and also most good oils.
Ingredients
Ingredients: Refined Coconut Oil (Cocus nucifera), Gotu Kola aerials (Centella asiatica), Bacopa aerials (Bacopa monnieri)
Directions: If preferred, Brahmi Oil can be applied only to your hair and scalp. Massage gently until the oil is mostly absorbed. To wash, apply shampoo to dry hair, then rinse. Or for a full body massage: Warm oil if desired to support nourishment and absorption. Massage into your whole body with firm, gentle pressure. Work your way from your hands and feet toward your heart. Use long strokes on the limbs and circular strokes on the joints. Let absorb for 10–20 minutes, then shower to rinse. For external use only.
