Organic sesame oil infused with brahmi, made for scalp massage that supports calm focus.

Brahmi is the Ayurvedic name for bacopa, a plant that's been getting rubbed into heads for a few thousand years now, which either means it works or everybody's too relaxed to stop doing it. Either way, this is organic sesame oil that's been slow cooked with organic brahmi leaf until the oil itself turns a deep, almost meditative green. You don't drink it. You don't swallow it. You put it on your head, which sounds like a joke until you remember that's basically what shampoo is too, except shampoo doesn't have a few thousand years of tradition behind it.

What It's Actually For

This is a topical oil, traditionally used in Ayurveda as part of a daily self-massage practice called abhyanga, specifically on the scalp and hair. Sesame oil on its own supports skin nourishment and helps maintain healthy-looking hair. Brahmi is traditionally included because it's associated with supporting cognitive function, mental clarity, and a calm, relaxed mood, the kind of thing you'd want going on upstairs before you walk into a meeting you didn't prepare for. It's a full plant oil extraction, meaning the brahmi isn't just floating around in there for the label, it's actually been cooked into the sesame base the old fashioned way.

How People Use It

  • Warm a small amount and massage into the scalp and hair, ideally before a shower (not after, the oil needs time to do its thing, it's not an instant process, nothing good is)
  • Leave on for 20 to 30 minutes, or overnight if you don't mind your pillowcase joining the ritual
  • Wash out with a mild shampoo
  • Can be used a few times a week as part of a regular self-care routine

It also works as a general after-shower body oil if you've got extra, which you probably will, because this is a 4 ounce bottle and a little goes a long way. Sesame oil is thick. You're not pouring this like it's a vinaigrette.

Why Banyan Botanicals

Banyan Botanicals sources organic ingredients and follows traditional Ayurvedic processing methods instead of just slapping "Ayurvedic" on a bottle of whatever was cheap that week. No synthetic fragrance, no shortcuts on the cooking process that actually infuses the brahmi into the oil. It's a simple product doing a simple thing, which in the supplement world is rarer than it should be.

This oil supports scalp health, promotes healthy-looking hair, and contributes to a calming self-care routine. It is not a shampoo, a cure, or a substitute for sleep, though your scalp
