Blue Flag root, extracted the old fashioned way: liquid, dropper, no shortcuts.

Blue Flag (Iris versicolor) is one of those plants that's been kicking around in herbal tradition since before "wellness" was a section at the grocery store. Herb Pharm digs up the fresh root, doesn't dry it out first (drying it would be like reheating leftovers you never needed to freeze), and extracts it into a liquid you can actually use. That's it. That's the whole idea. One root, one bottle, no committee meetings about it.

What Blue Flag root extract actually does

This is a traditional botanical, and Herb Pharm treats it that way, which means we're not going to stand here and promise you a personality transplant. What we can say is that Blue Flag root has a long history of traditional herbal use in support of the body's natural cleansing processes and healthy digestion. It's the kind of ingredient herbalists reach for quietly, not the kind that needs a marching band.

  • Supports the body's natural cleansing processes
  • Supports healthy digestive function
  • Supports skin health from the inside
  • Made from fresh, not dried, Blue Flag root
  • Formulated with well researched, traditionally used botanicals

How it's made (and why that matters)

Herb Pharm grows or ethically wildcrafts the plant, then extracts it fresh, which is a fancier way of saying they don't let the root sit around getting nostalgic before they use it. The company has been doing this since 1979, which in supplement years is basically ancient. They use only alcohol, water, and the plant itself. No fillers hiding out in there pretending to be relevant.

A liquid extract also means it skips the whole capsule production line, the gelatin, the little vegetable cellulose shell that just sits there being a shell. You put drops under your tongue or into a bit of water, and that's the entire delivery system. It's honestly one of the more direct-to-the-point formats a supplement can take, no offense to capsules, which are trying their best.

Who this is for

People who want a traditional single-herb extract without a paragraph of stimulants and mystery blends attached to it. If you're already comfortable with tincture dosing and want to add Blue Flag root to a broader daily wellness routine, this 4 oz bottle is built to last a while and doesn't ask much of you beyond a dropper and a small glass of water.

Unknown

It grows in wet meadows and marshes, looks like something you'd plant on purpose, and herbalists have been reaching for its root for generations. Also, it is not a flag. It's a flower. Somebody looked at an iris and named it after a flag, and the botany community just let that happen. We respect their commitment.

What Blue Flag Is

Blue Flag (Iris versicolor) is a traditional botanical, and this 4 oz. liquid extract puts it in a form you can actually use. It also has a traditional reputation for nourishing healthy skin, which makes sense once you accept that skin is basically a status report your insides publish daily.

Why People Reach for It

  • Supports lymphatic system health*
  • Nourishes healthy, clear-looking skin*
  • A traditional botanical with a long record of use in Western herbalism

Why a Liquid Extract

Tinctures are the quiet overachievers of the herb world. The extraction work is already done, so you're not brewing anything, straining anything, or apologizing to a teapot. You just add drops to water per the label directions and get on with your day. The 4 oz. size means you won't be reordering every other week (a bottle that runs out fast isn't a supplement, it's a subscription with extra steps).

How It Fits Into Your Routine

Blue Flag works best as a steady part of a daily wellness routine, alongside decent food, water, and the occasional vegetable you didn't have to be talked into. It's a supportive herb, not a dramatic one. Traditional herbalists valued it for consistent, background support of the body's cleansing and skin health, which is honestly the kind of coworker everyone wants.*

One flower. One bottle. Four ounces of a plant that's been doing this job since before it had a misleading name.
