Drynaria rhizome, unsulfured and traditionally used in herbal formulas for bone and joint support.
Gu Sui Bu translates, roughly, to "mend broken bones." That's the name someone gave this root a very long time ago, back before ingredient labels existed and people just named things after what they hoped they'd do. We're not going to stand here and tell you a root fixes bones. That's not how roots work, and it's not how the law works either. What we can tell you is that Gu Sui Bu (Drynaria fortunei, if you want to get formal about it) has a long history in traditional Chinese herbal practice as part of formulas aimed at supporting bone health and joint comfort. The name is a legacy. The claim is a lot more modest.
What "Unsulfured" Actually Means
A lot of dried Chinese herbs get fumigated with sulfur during processing. It keeps them from molding, brightens the color, extends shelf life. It also means you're getting sulfur along with your root, which is a bonus nobody asked for. Unsulfured means MayWay skipped that step. So this root looks like a root. Sort of brown, a little rugged, not particularly photogenic. It didn't get dressed up for the occasion. What you're buying is closer to what actually came out of the ground, which, for a raw herb, is kind of the whole point.
About MayWay / Plum Flower
MayWay has been sourcing and preparing traditional Chinese herbs under the Plum Flower line for decades, and their raw herbs are a staple in practitioner-grade herbal dispensing. This isn't a flashy capsule with a made-up Latin-sounding name on it. It's a rhizome, sliced and dried, sold the way it's been sold in traditional practice for a long time, minus the sulfur.
Why People Use It
- Traditionally used to support healthy bone structure
- Supports joint comfort and mobility as part of a balanced wellness routine
- Used in classic formulas that also support the body's natural recovery processes after physical activity
- Unsulfured processing for a more traditional, less altered raw herb
Gu Sui Bu is typically prepared as part of a decoction alongside other herbs, following traditional practice or the guidance of a qualified herbal practitioner. It's not a stand-alone miracle root, and we wouldn't call it that even if it were, because we're not
