Herb ID Cards That Actually Tell You What You're Looking At

These are flashcards for herbs. Not vegetables you already know from the grocery store, the other kind, the dried, twisted, slightly suspicious-looking kind you find in a jar at a Chinese medicine dispensary with a name you can't pronounce and definitely can't spell. The MayWay / Plum Flower Herb ID Cards exist so you can look at a photo of a root, a seed, a bark shaving, whatever it is, and go "oh, that's Huang Qi" instead of "oh, that's a twig." Which, to be fair, a lot of herbs also look like twigs. That's kind of the problem this deck solves.

Each card shows the herb in its raw, unprocessed form, the way you'd actually encounter it in a clinic, a school, or a very confusing kitchen drawer. That matters, because herbs get named one thing on the package and look like something else entirely once you dump it out of the bag. An ID card is basically a mugshot for a root. You look at the picture, you look at the herb, you figure out if they're the same guy.

Who This Is Actually For

Students of Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbal medicine practitioners, acupuncturists, dispensary staff, and anyone who has ever stood over a bin of dried plant material squinting like it owes them money. This is a study and reference tool. It supports herbal literacy and identification skill, which is a real skill, and one that does not come from vibes.

What This Isn't

This is not a supplement. You cannot swallow a flashcard, and even if you could, it would not do anything for you nutritionally, structurally, or spiritually. It also will not diagnose anything, treat anything, or replace the training of a licensed practitioner. What it will do is make the difference between "root" and "that other root" a lot less mysterious, one card at a time.

If you've ever tried to memorize dozens of herbs from a textbook description alone, you already know the problem: words are words, but a dried rhizome is a dried rhizome, and no paragraph fully prepares you for what one actually looks like sitting in a bag. This deck closes that gap. Study it, quiz with it, keep it in your bag between clinic shifts. It's a small, unglamorous tool that does one job clearly: it helps you recognize what you're holding.
