Rou Gui (Cinnamon Bark), Unsulfured
Rou Gui (cinnamon bark) is one of the oldest warming herbs in Chinese herbalism.
This is the "guan" grade, which is a fancy way of saying the bark rolled itself into a tube shape while drying, which is either impressive commitment from a piece of tree bark or just what bark does when nobody's watching. Either way, guan grade is considered a higher quality cut, and Plum Flower sources it whole and unsulfured, meaning nobody fumigated it to make it look prettier on a shelf. It looks like bark. It is bark. Cinnamomum cassia bark, specifically, and it has been part of Chinese herbal traditions for a very long time, long before anyone thought to put it in a jar with a barcode.
"Unsulfured" is the detail that matters here. A lot of dried herbs get treated with sulfur dioxide to keep the color bright and the shelf life long, which is fine, but it also means you're getting sulfur along with your herb, whether you ordered it or not. This Rou Gui skips that step. What you get is the bark, air dried, rolled up, and left alone, which sounds like a low bar until you realize how few things in a warehouse actually get left alone.
How It's Traditionally Used
In traditional Chinese herbal practice, Rou Gui is used to support warming digestive function and promote a general sense of internal comfort, particularly in formulas aimed at circulation and digestive wellness. It is also traditionally included to support a healthy inflammatory response and to promote overall vitality when combined with other herbs in a balanced formula. None of that means it fixes anything that's broken. It means it's been part of formulas people have leaned on for centuries, and Plum Flower has just kept the sourcing and processing honest.

A Note on Format
This comes as raw bark, not a capsule, not a gummy, not a powder pretending to be a smoothie ingredient. That means it's meant to be prepared the way herbalists have prepared it for generations, typically as part of a decoction alongside other herbs, under the guidance of a qualified practitioner. It is not a "toss it in your gym bag" kind of product. It's a "know what you're doing, or ask someone who does" kind of product, which honestly should be true of more things sold in tubes and jars.
