Xing Ren (nan) is the southern, sweeter apricot seed that Chinese herbalism has leaned on for centuries to support healthy lung function and comfortable breathing.
This one is unsulfured, which is a label that just means somebody skipped a step. A lot of dried herbs get treated with sulfur to keep the color pretty and the shelf life long. This one didn't get that treatment, so it's a little more honest about being a dried apricot seed. It looks like a dried apricot seed. It is a dried apricot seed. Ma Way / Plum Flower sources it that way on purpose, because the "nan" (southern) variety is naturally milder and better suited for daily use than its northern cousin, Bei Xing Ren, which is more bitter and traditionally used differently.
In traditional Chinese herbal practice, Xing Ren is prepared as part of a decoction (that's the technical word for "you boil it") and used to support the lungs, ease occasional coughing from a healthy respiratory system doing its normal thing, and promote general respiratory comfort. It's not a snack. Nobody is eating these like trail mix. You simmer it with other herbs as directed by a qualified practitioner or formula, and the seed does its slow, quiet, centuries-old job.
Why unsulfured matters
- No added sulfur processing, so what you're weighing out is the herb itself, not the herb plus a preservation step
- Supports healthy lung and respiratory function as part of a traditional herbal preparation
- The "nan" (southern) variety is milder in character, generally favored for gentler, more frequent use
- Sourced and packaged by MayWay / Plum Flower, a long-established name in raw Chinese herb sourcing
How it's typically used
Xing Ren (nan) is sold as a raw, whole dried herb for practitioners and experienced home users to incorporate into decoctions and formulas, generally in combination with other herbs rather than on its own. Dosage and formula pairing should follow the guidance of a licensed acupuncturist or herbalist, since traditional Chinese medicine is built around combinations, not solo acts. Store it somewhere cool and dry. It's a seed. It doesn't need a lot from you besides that.
This is a raw herb product intended for traditional preparation, not a flavored gummy or a capsule you toss back with coffee. If you already work with a practitioner on a respiratory-support formula, this is the ingredient they've probably already told you about.
