Healthy Hair Oil is twelve ounces of warm, herb-infused oil that goes on your scalp, not in your salad (I checked, it says "external use" right on the bottle, which is the kind of instruction I respect because it assumes someone out there needed it).

Banyan Botanicals built this one the old Ayurvedic way: a sesame oil base slow-cooked with a lineup of traditional herbs, meant to be massaged into the scalp and worked through the length of the hair. A scalp massage is a strange thing when you think about it. You're rubbing oil into the one part of your body you can't actually see yourself doing it to. You just have to trust the process, and your hands, and whoever's walking by.

What It's Actually For

This is a nourishing oil treatment, not a leave-in miracle and not a shampoo replacement. It's formulated to:

  • Support healthy hair and scalp function with a traditional herb-infused oil base
  • Nourish the scalp and promote a sense of calm, grounded wellness during use
  • Help maintain the hair's natural moisture and shine
  • Support a healthy scalp environment through regular, gentle application

You warm it slightly, work it into the scalp, leave it on for a while (Banyan suggests letting it sit before washing), and then shampoo it out. The "letting it sit" part is where you find out what you're doing with the rest of your morning, because walking around in public with oiled hair is a personal choice and not one I'm going to make for you.

The Ingredients Are Doing Something

This isn't just sesame oil with good intentions. It's infused with a blend of traditional Ayurvedic herbs chosen specifically for scalp and hair nourishment, the kind of formulation that takes actual cooking time, not just shaking a bottle and hoping. Sesame oil itself has been used in Ayurvedic practice for centuries as a base for exactly this kind of scalp treatment, which means somebody, a long time ago, figured this out before there were bottles with ingredient lists on the back.

One bottle is 12 ounces, which sounds like a lot of oil until you realize a little goes a long way and you've got a full head to cover. Use it once or twice a week as part of a regular hair care routine, and let the rest of your routine catch up.

This is a cosmetic hair and scalp oil. It supports the look and feel of healthy hair. It will not fix anything that's actually wrong, it will just make your scalp a nicer place to be, which, when you think about it, is where your hair lives full time.
