Mahanarayan Oil, 236 mL

Mahanarayan Oil is a traditional Ayurvedic herbal oil made for one job: getting rubbed into tired joints and muscles. That's it. That's the whole résumé. It doesn't multitask. It's not also a moisturizer that's secretly hoping to become a serum someday. It's an oil, in a bottle, that you put on your body, and it has been doing this exact thing for a very long time, which is more than I can say for most things in my medicine cabinet.

The base is sesame oil, slow simmered with a traditional blend of Ayurvedic herbs until the oil takes on their properties. It's basically a very patient tea, except nobody drinks it and the "steeping" takes a lot longer than three minutes. The result is a warming, fragrant oil traditionally used in Ayurvedic massage (abhyanga) to support joint comfort, mobility, and a general sense of "my body does not feel like a rusted hinge today."

What It's Traditionally Used For

  • Supports joint comfort and mobility with regular topical use
  • Promotes muscle comfort after activity or exercise
  • Nourishes and conditions the skin
  • Supports a healthy inflammatory response when massaged into the skin
  • Traditionally used in Ayurvedic warm oil massage (abhyanga) for daily wellness routines

You warm it slightly, massage it into the area that's giving you trouble (knees, shoulders, lower back, wherever gravity has been winning lately), and let it absorb. Some people let it sit before a warm shower. Some people use it every day as part of a regular self care routine, because the oil doesn't expire overnight and neither does the concept of taking care of your joints.

Why the 236 mL Size

This is the larger bottle, which means you're not standing in your bathroom rationing drops like it's the last bit of hot sauce in the fridge. A little goes a long way per use, but if you're doing regular massage work, you'll actually get through it, which is more than I can say for that bottle of fancy vinegar I bought in 2019.

Banyan Botanicals sources and formulates according to traditional Ayurvedic methods, so what's in the bottle is close to what's been used for generations, not a reinvented wheel with a new label. It's for external use, part of a broader approach to daily wellness and a healthy, active lifestyle, not a stand in for anything else going on with your health.
