Plum Flower Xian Mao unsulfured is the dried rhizome of Curculigo orchioides, kept whole and skipped past the sulfur step entirely.
Start with the word rhizome, because a rhizome is a stem that took a wrong turn. (Stems are supposed to go up. This one went sideways, underground, in the dark, doing stem work where nobody could check on it. The tradition kept the part that was technically standing up the whole time, just lying down about it, and buried, and not telling anyone.) It's a traditional botanical that supports the body the everyday way, prepared the way this herb has been used for a long time.
The word unsulfured is the one earning its keep on the label here. (Most dried herbs get a sulfur treatment so the color holds and the bugs stay disinterested. This one skips it. So the label isn't naming something in the bag. It's naming a step that didn't happen. A nothing, printed on purpose. Which is a strange thing to advertise and also completely fair.) Used the traditional way, Xian Mao turns up in classic formulas that help maintain the body's normal balance and promote everyday wellness.
And it's the whole rhizome here, kept in its own form. (No grinder got to it. The sideways underground stem got dug up and dried and that was the end of the processing. The breaking is still on the table, which is to say it's now your table.) It supports the body the unhurried way, the way the tradition has always used it.

How to Work It Into Your Routine
Use it the way the tradition uses it, measured and prepared according to the guidance you already trust, usually as part of a larger formula rather than on its own. That's the idea. (The rhizome does nothing in the bag, which is the part people forget. The bag can't measure itself. The preparing was always the work, not the owning. Xian Mao sitting in a cupboard is just Xian Mao sitting in a cupboard, patient about it.)
It pairs naturally with the rest of a herbal routine you already keep, the formulas and the rest and the ordinary care a body responds to. (The herb supports the body the traditional way, but it can't break itself down, sealed up as it is. The digging is done and the sulfur was skipped on purpose, the rest is on you, and there's a bag of whole rhizome in there, waiting on the hand that opens it. They pulled up the stem that grew sideways underground, dried it, and left the sulfur out, and this is that, whole and minus the sulfur.) Store it somewhere cool and dry, sealed against the air, since dried herbs keep better when the air stays out. For a traditional herb kept whole and unsulfured, that's a fair trade.
