Plum Flower Yin Chai Hu unsulfured is the dried root of Stellaria dichotoma, a traditional Chinese herb prepared whole and kept without the sulfur step.
Start with the word root, because a root is the part of the plant that went the wrong way on purpose. (Everything else on the plant chased the light. The root looked at all that and headed down into the dark instead. It's the part that anchored the whole operation by committing to the one direction nobody wants to drive in. So what got dug up and dried here is the plant's foundation, the half that never once saw the sun and got bagged for it anyway.) It's a traditional botanical that supports the body the everyday way, prepared the way this root has been used for a long time.
Now the name Chai Hu, because there's a famous Chai Hu, the bupleurum root, and this one borrowed the name and stuck a Yin on the front. (Yin Chai Hu isn't that plant. It's the stand-in, the silver-stemmed cousin that got called Chai Hu because somebody decided it could fill the same seat in a formula. A root named after a more famous root. It carries another plant's reputation around like a hand-me-down jacket.) Used the traditional way, Yin Chai Hu turns up in classic formulas that help maintain the body's normal balance and promote everyday wellness.
The word unsulfured does the quiet work on the label. (Most dried herbs get a sulfur treatment so the color holds and the bugs lose interest. This one skips it. So the label isn't naming something in the bag. It's naming a step that didn't happen, a nothing, printed on purpose. Strange to advertise an absence, and completely fair.) It supports a calm, relaxed mood the unhurried way, the way the tradition has always used it.

How to Work It Into Your Routine
Use it the way the tradition uses it, measured and prepared according to the guidance you already trust, usually as part of a larger formula rather than on its own. That's the idea. (The root does nothing in the bag, which is the part people forget. The bag can't measure itself. A root that anchored a whole plant still waits on a hand up here. The preparing was always the work, not the owning.)
It pairs naturally with the rest of a herbal routine you already keep, the formulas and the rest and the ordinary care a body responds to. (The root supports the body the traditional way, but it can't open its own bag, sealed up as it is. The drying is done, the sulfur was skipped on purpose, the rest is on you, and there's a bag of root in there waiting on the hand that breaks the seal. They dug up the part that went down into the dark while everything else chased the light, dried it, and left the sulfur out, and this is that, whole and minus the sulfur.) Store it somewhere cool and dry, sealed against the air, since dried herbs keep better when the air stays out. For a root that borrowed a more famous root's name and skipped the sulfur, that's a fair trade.
