Coptis and Rehmannia Meet In One Traditional Granule Formula From Sun Ten
Qing Wei San (清胃散) is a classic granule blend built around two workhorse herbs, coptis and rehmannia, the way a lot of old formulas are built around two things that just happen to work well side by side. Sun Ten makes it the way they make everything else, which is to say carefully, consistently, and without a lot of fanfare. That's kind of the whole pitch. It's not a new idea dressed up in a shiny bottle. It's an old idea, ground down, dried out, and put into a jar so you don't have to boil a pot of roots on your stove like it's 1850.
The name translates roughly to "clear the stomach powder," which is a very direct name for a very direct formula. Herbal companies don't usually name things that plainly (they'd rather call it something like "Vitality Prime Complex"), so when a formula just tells you what it does in the name, that's worth noticing.
What This Formula Is Traditionally Used For
- Supports digestive comfort as part of a balanced daily routine
- Supports a healthy inflammatory response in the upper digestive tract
- Promotes normal, healthy stomach function
- Traditionally used in Chinese herbal practice as a cooling, balancing formula
Coptis (Huang Lian) is one of the more bitter herbs in the whole Chinese pharmacy, bitter in a way that makes you understand why bitterness and "this is probably doing something" have been linked in folk medicine for centuries. Rehmannia rounds it out with a more grounding, nourishing quality, so the formula isn't just one bitter note played on repeat. It's a duet. A short, slightly medicinal-tasting duet.
Granules, Not Raw Herbs
This comes as a concentrated granule, which means someone already did the boiling, straining, and reducing so you don't have to. You just mix the powder into hot water and drink it, which is the herbal equivalent of instant coffee if instant coffee were also slightly bitter and named after two plants instead of one b
